Bitdefender may not be as well-known as some of the market veterans, but experts love it – and with good reason.
This Romanian tool is one of the best, most comprehensive pieces of antivirus software on the market today. Why? Well, Bitdefender often gets praised for its performance and efficient malware removal. It offers great real-time protection, includes lots of extra security features like Anti-Phishing and a spam filter, and even includes a built-in VPN.
Yet with so many choices out there, you might still wonder whether this service is worth your time. In this Bitdefender Total Security review, I’ll go through their security features, pricing options, ease of use, apps and more to help you decide whether this is the right antivirus for the job.
🔒 First off, Bitdefender is considered one of the safest antivirus softwares on the entire planet, full stop! AV-Comparatives, which I’m sure you guys have heard us mention in almost every single one of our antivirus breakdowns, is pretty much the industry’s go to when it comes to standardized malware detection tests for this type of software. Well, Bitdefender was their Product of the Year! Not only that, they were Product of the Year FOR 4 YEARS! That’s more than any other antivirus software on the market.
💯 According to AV-Comparatives their Bitdefender test concluded that this provider blocked 100% of all threats during its test period. That includes both “Zero Day,” industry jargon for “brand new,” viruses and weeks-old viruses too. Not only is its protection strong, it’s also wicked fast and scored top marks on speed tests as well.
With Bitdefender’s Total Security plan, there’s everything you’d come to expect out of a baseline subscription to any market-leading antivirus software: Network Threat Prevention and an excellent version of it. I especially favour the Ransomware protection, a dedicated SafePay browser, a nice basic password manager and VPN, a handy file shredder, and other useful, user-friendly, and fairly straight-forward but effective features. But for top dollar, you want even more. That’s where Bitdefender delivers.
👌 Webcam and microphone protection: Guarantees that there’s not unauthorized access to your camera or microphone.
👌 This plan comes with some excellent Parental Controls, and across all of the devices you might have, macOS and iOS included. I noticed I could select specific website categories I wanted to block as well as monitor and manage specific screen time per user, device, and window.
👌 Privacy Firewalls. Another big plus. I found this a blessing, especially when I’m out and about connecting to public networks.
👌 It’s super cool that the Performance Optimization can make device-specific tweaks to the way it scans and analyzes your devices, making sure the software itself stays as light on its feet as possible so it’s not slowing down performance, draining your CPU, or overheating your device.
👌 Another massive life-saver is Total Security’s Anti-Theft and Anti-Loss. Phone stolen? Remotely lock and wipe it right away. Trying to track it down? GPS will help you pinpoint exactly where it is.
❓ So, what’s the takeaway from all of this? Well, the iOS version is a little lackluster. It’s also not the cheapest antivirus provider on the market. The download takes a while. But folks, otherwise, I’m running out of gripes. I honestly appreciate what this Bitdefender plan has to offer, I don’t feel cheated either. It is one of the best antivirus softwares I’ve had the pleasure of trying out.
❓ Optimization settings adapt to your specific hardware, meaning peak performance no matter what device you’re on. The dashboard could not be easier to use, learn, or understand. The features are absolutely out the wazoo on this one, you’re basically getting an entire cybersecurity suite for a few bucks a month.
